VI ESPLAC ENVIRONMENTAL DAYS HELPED ESPLAIS TO DESIGN MORE SUSTAINABLE CAMPS!

The sixth edition of the Esplac Environmental Days, focused on the creation of sustainable camps, reached a record of participation with more than 80 people attending.

This past 6th of October, the 6th Environmental Days was held by environmental Commission of Esplac (Comissió Reduint Petjada). It was a time for debate, for reflection and for new learning about how to organize and realize more sustainable camps.

More than 80 people who participated (record participation in the 6th editions) could hear the voice of people from various organizations that work to raise awareness of climate change such as the international movement Fridays For Future (with two representatives in the initial presentation) and other organizations that during the morning made simultaneous presentations: Terra Mullada and Espigoladors, as well as the Esplai  Isard Flor de Neu that showed their good good practices. All this was accompanied with some meals with ecological, proximity and vegan food by the social inclusion cooperative Diomcoop.

In the afternoon, we realized a workshop about sustainable camps. First, participants learned how to make soap and organic toothpaste. There was also an activity carried out by the Extinction Rebellion movement with dynamics about how to work with the esplai the sustainability topic. They  created a space for collecting and sharing information learned during the day.

Finally, the members of the Reduint Petjada Commission of Esplac presented a new resource for the esplais: one document to facilitate and help the esplais that want to create sustainable events. It is an interactive document and you can check it here. In addition, you can also see a summary video with conclusions extracted by the participants.
