Online kick-off meeting of our new project - Building Bridges: Youth Work for Peace and Dialogue - took place on 27-28 October with the participation of coordinators from all the project partners. In this two-day webinar two coordinators per organisation came together to plan and shape the project. The educational approach was an interactive webinar using non-formal methodology and facilitated the sharing and expertise of the participants.

Together, we explored the project objectives, key performance indicators and milestones, as well as considering project risks, establishing the responsibilities of different partners and coming up with a communication plan. This meeting gave us a platform to consider the region-specific issues around the topic and set a common ground for rest of project. With great motivation and commitment of all our partners, we are ready to start building bridges for peace and dialogue.

From our partners

"As a young Cameroonian currently experiencing first hand the brutal repercussions of conflicts as a result of the ongoing Anglophone crisis, I believe that my participation in the Building Bridges project is a statement that there are other ways to promote equality, peace and human rights other than through violence and weapons. For me, this project provides an alternative way for young people to express themselves by empowering youth workers on peace education and human rights in four continents."
Delphine Konda, Girls Excel (Cameroon)

"It's really exciting because I've always been a peace advocate since college. It's a great opportunity to be able to work with young peace workers around the world."
Regina Rebueno, AKBAYAN Youth (Philippines)

"This is how we build peace in the world: young people getting together from across the globe to commit to peace work. In a time when authoritarians are getting elected to higher offices, this project allows young activists to hold the line for communities ravaged by conflict. This project keeps us hopeful."
 Justine Balane, AKBAYAN Youth (Philippines)

"Building Bridges is an exciting project in which partners from all the world come together to work on widely relevant topics such as peace, inclusion and diversity. It is exciting that those topics will be tackled by organisations coming from very varied backgrounds, ensuring a global view on those."
Tilemachos Boni, ELIX (Greece)

"Fue muy exitante conocer a todos los miembros del proyecto construyendo puentes, conocer sus pensamientos acerca de nuestro futuro proyecto y ponerlo en práctica en cada costumbre o cultura de donde ellos vienen será muy exitante.  En mi primera reunión virtual, pude conocer nuestro proyecto construyendo puentes y desde entonces se ha vuelto para mi, un reto de aprendizaje y compromiso para la educación por la paz y el diálogo."
Cesar Rivero, Los Cachorros (Peru)
