Are you interested in working on the topics of democracy and community organizing?

IFM-SEI is looking for 22 young participants for its special project “Changemakers of Tomorrow” supported by the European Youth Foundation of the council of Europe as part of the 2022 Youth campaign “Democracy Here. Democracy Now”

Do you want to tackle dissolutions with democracy and increase meaningful youth participation? Are you motivated to implement community activities after gaining competencies in the training? Do you want to become part of a global network of supportive activists?

Then apply and join our training!

What is “Changemakers”?

Changemakers of Tomorrow is an International Project funded by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. Changemakers of Tomorrow has been granted as part of a Special Call issued to support the 2022 Youth campaign. The campaign aims at strengthening young people’s role in the process of revitalizing participatory democracy and restoring mutual trust between young people and democratic institutions and processes. This project contributes to this campaign as well as continuing with IFM-SEI’s 100 years of work with Democracy as one of our core values. This project, written and delivered by our young ESC volunteers, focuses on community strength as a building block to enable meaningful youth participation. We will provide the space for young people to develop their knowledge, attitudes, values and skills to secure their equal participation in the democratic process and become changemakers in their local communities.

Why apply?

Participants attending this training would:

  • Improve your intercultural facilitation skills and build competencies such as community building, group organizing and campaigning.
  • Develop their understandings on democracy, disillusionment with democracy and human rights.
  • Learn how to plan and deliver projects in their local communities and become part of a global network of young activists.
  • Get seed funding to implement these local projects and share the skills learnt in the project.

Who can apply?

IFM-SEI is looking for interested participants who are:

  • 16-30 year olds. Preference will be given to those aged under 25 (accompanying person required for those under 18).

  • People passionate about working in their community in the future.
  • People confident working in English, French, or Spanish.

We will give priorities to having two people per organization where possible, ensuring gender balance, so we would encourage you to check out with your organization if there will be two participants able to join the training. Due to funding limitations we can only bring 6 participants from outside of Council of Europe states which may affect how many participants are able to come from your organization.

IFM-SEI welcomes applications from all young people irrespective of gender, disability, marital or parental status, ethnic or social origin, colour, religion, belief, or sexual orientation. We specifically encourage young people with fewer opportunities to apply.
