RESIST! THE GLOBAL CLIMATE DIVIDE

Resist! the Global Climate Divide is set to launch this year, generously supported by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. Resist! will aim to mobilise a young generation of climate change activists to be ambassadors for a systemic, intersectional and anti-capitalist approach to the global climate emergency.

We are looking for IFM-SEI members from Council of Europe member states to join the steering group for the project. The steering group will lead the first activity of the project, which will involve steering a focus group of climate crisis experts, and developing a detailed work plan for the upcoming training. They will then deliver that programme to a group of young climate change activists, using different non-formal education methods.

The steering group will consist of five people, comprised of IFM-SEI volunteers and secretariat members. The steering group will first meet face-to-face in Brussels, Belgium on 18-23 February 2020. As part of this, they will plan, develop and prepare to deliver a week-long training in April 2020 (date TBC). If they wish to, the steering group members can then join participants at Common Ground (August 2020), and to develop a toolkit (September 2020).

PLEASE NOTE: as a member of the steering group member, you must be able to commit the time to attend both the focus group, and the training.

Who can apply?

Applicants for the focus group must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • - Be aged 16-30 years old
  • - Be residing in a Council of Europe member state
  • - Be active in an IFM-SEI member organisation or sister organisation
  • - Have experience as a peer educator, youth leader and/or educator in non-formal education
  • - Have experience working on the topic of  climate change from intersectional, anti-capitalist, decolonial and systemic standpoints
  • - Be confident working in English
  • - Be able to attend both face-to-face activities during the project lifecycle
  • - Have the commitment and motivation to work on the project

If you are interested in joining the Resist! the Global Climate Divide steering group, you should complete this application form by Sunday 26 January 2020. Steering group members will be selected through an objective scoring matrix selection system.

Please note, IFM-SEI will seek approval of any successful applicants by their organisation before they can be offered a place.

With the generous suppoprt of the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.
