Are you aged 18-30? Do you want to get more active in the educational work of IFM-SEI? Do you have experience working on the topics of masculinity, the bystander model and men’s role in prevention of sexual violence?

We are re-opening the call for 1 more member to join our team. IFM-SEI is looking for 1 experienced and motivated male trainer to join the international team for our upcoming seminar - I Act: exploring masculinities - in partnership with the  European Youth Foundation of Council of Europe.  The training will bring together 30 participants aged 18-30 years old. The deadline to apply is Wednesday 2 January 2019 (23:59 CET).

 

The basics

Where and when:

• Seminar: 24 - 31 March 2019, Milan, Italy (inclusive of travel days)

Who: Experienced international trainers aged 18-30 from Council of Europe member states

Aim: engage young men in the discourse around sexual violence to be ambassadors on challenging sexual violence in their organisations and societies.

Objectives:

1. Critically explore different types of masculinities, how masculinity is a social construct and the effects masculinities have on children and young people

2. Educate young people, particularly young men, on the bystander model of sexual violence and power-based analysis of sexual violence

3. Approach the topic of masculinities and sexual violence from a feminist perspective and make links with feminist movements on the topic in local project implementation

 

Role of the trainer

• Attend an online preparation meeting

• Be in regular communication with other team members, including through regular email communication and participation in virtual meetings

• Design the programme and methodologies of the seminar

• Design and implement an introductory webinar and two preparation tasks for the participants

• Deliver the seminar as a team, taking responsibility for specific parts of the programme

• Evaluate the programme and provide an oral and/or written evaluation

• Support the participants in their learning and understanding, including online and offline dissemination that will take place between April-June 2019

Please note that this is a voluntary position, however, all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed with prior approval from IFM-SEI. The Council of Europe covers all accommodation, board, travel and programme costs.

Profile of the trainer - essential criteria

•Be a male trainer*

•Be 18-30 years old

• Be active in an IFM-SEI member organisation from Europe

• Have experience as a trainer and/or facilitator on a national, regional and/or international level

• Have a good working understanding of IFM-SEI

• Have an understanding of non-formal education theory and experience in using non-formal education methods

• Have intercultural sensitivity and experience in working with international groups

• Be a good team player

• Be able to communicate confidently English

 

*In line with the European Youth Foundation of Council of Europe's gender equality rules, we are only looking for 1 more man to join the trainers' team.

Profile of the trainer - desirable criteria

• Have experience of working on the topics of masculinity and the bystander model

• Have been involved in I Act project previously

• Have completed a Training of Trainers programme

• Experience in one-to-one mentoring of young people

We are looking for 1 male trainer to join the team in line with the European Youth Foundation of Council of Europe's gender equality rules. For this reason, only applications of male trainers will be evaluated.
