I Act “Action day” is here!
I Act is a project looking at preventing sexual violence using the active bystander approach. Being an active bystander means taking responsibility and choosing to act when you see something happening that could either lead to, or is an act of sexual violence. Each individual action might not seem like it can make a difference but when we all choose to act, we can create a bigger change.
When is the Action Day? 25th November 2017, the international day for the eradication of violence against women.
What will happen in the Action Day? We want all IFM-SEI organisations to organise an activity in line with the I Act project.
Don’t worry! It doesn’t have to be anything big, you can run one of the activities from the handbook with your children’s or youth groups, you can make an info point in the city centre to raise awareness about sexual violence, you can deliver a workshop for youth leaders… up to you! Every small action counts!
We want to help you with the activities, and that’s why you will receive a package with T-shirt, stickers, badges and printed copies of the I Act Handbook of activities for the prevention of sexual violence. The handbook is available in English, Spanish and French. Yes! All IFM-SEI organisations will get all this for free! This is thanks to the funding of the European Youth Foundation from the Council of Europe, which has funded the I Act work plan.
Please tell us the activity you will run so we can add it to the I Act Map of Action. Imagine all IFM-SEI regions covered in green thumbprints? All together, we will make a difference in the prevention of sexual violence.
If you have any questions or want to know more about the project, you can visit the I Act website or contact the IFM-SEI secretariat at any time.
The packages will take a bit to arrive to all the organisations, but in the meantime, you can start reading the handbook English , Spanish and French
