Are you aged 18-35? Do you want to get more active in the educational work of IFM-SEI? Do you have experience working on the topics of child refugees, unaccompanied minors or children’s rights?
IFM-SEI is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and experienced trainers to join an international team for our upcoming study session in partnership with the Council of Europe:
‘Children on the move – how youth organisations can support young refugees and migrants’
Aim: To better understand the systemic causes for flight and migration in order for children and youth organisations to better support young refugees and migrants and include them in their work.
Objectives:
- To analyse flight and migration from a global perspective
- To understand the systemic reasons for flight
and migration - To learn more about the specific
challenges of unaccompanied minors - To share good practice of supporting young migrants and refugees, particularly unaccompanied minors
- To develop ideas on how youth organisations can support young migrants and refugees, particularly unaccompanied minors
Where: European Youth Centre, Strasbourg
When: 5-12 March 2017
Who: The study session is open to IFM-SEI member from Council of Europe member states and one person from each of the following countries: Colombia, Palestine, Indonesia and Senegal. This person can be a team member or participant, but not both. The Council of Europe covers all accommodation, board, travel and programme costs.
Role of the trainer:
- Attend a preparation meeting in Strasbourg (9-11 December 2016, arriving on the evening of the 9th and departing on the afternoon 11th)
- Be in regular communication with other team members, including through regular email communication and participation in virtual meetings
- Design the programme and methodology of the study session
- Prepare session outlines
- Deliver the study session as a team, with everyone taking responsibility for parts of the programme
- Evaluate the programme and provide an oral and/or written evaluation
- Support the participants in their learning and understanding
Please note that this is a voluntary position however all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Profile of the trainer:
Essential
- Be 18-35 years old
- Be active in an IFM-SEI member organisation from Europe, Colombia, Palestine, Indonesia or Senegal (if a non-European team member is selected then no participant will be selected from this country)
- Have experience as a trainer and/or facilitator on a national, regional and/or international level
- Have a good working understanding of IFM-SEI
- Have experience of working on the topics of child refugees, unaccompanied minors and/or children’s rights
- Have an understanding of non-formal education theory and experience in using non-formal education methods
- Have practice in working with groups comprised of participants with different levels of knowledge and experience
- Have intercultural sensitivity and experience in working with international groups
- Be a good team player
- Be able to communicate confidently English
Desirable
- Have completed a Training of Trainers programme
- Have hands-on experience working with child refugees and/or unaccompanied minors
