About the seminar

The aim of the seminar is to engage young men in the discourse around sexual violence to be ambassadors on challenging sexual violence in their organisations and societies. Participants will come together for seven days to explore the different types of masculinities, such as toxic masculinity, hegemonic masculinity and female masculinity. All together, we will discover how sexual violence is linked to peer culture and think about mechanisms young people can challenge it without losing social credibility of those involved.

We will have a chance to discover the topic of masculinities and sexual violence from a feminist perspective and make links with feminist movements on the topic in local project implementation. Additionally, we will explore how to involve men in the discourse without taking space of survivors and delve into how to be a positive ally and act in solidarity.

The seminar will approach the topic from the bystander model of sexual violence and power-based analysis of sexual violence. We will look at current initiatives around the inclusion of the topic of the seminar in our organisations and societies, and offer space to think about what needs to be done by us and develop our own projects and actions.
