Support visits offering tailored support to your organisation!

For IFM-SEI, the groups within our member organisations are the core cells of our movement and we know how important the grassroots education within these groups are. Being an umbrella organisation for child and youth led movements across the world, we want to support our member organisations who would like to develop, strengthen, and create new groups as we understand that our groups matter!

One of the most valuable parts of the Group Matters project was having the chance to give IFM-SEI organisations the chance to receive tailored support and expert advice on how to successfully develop group work – or discuss strategies to push forward the organisation as a whole – in autumn 2016. The IFM-SEI Presidium would like to continue to offer your organisations individualised support based on your needs (even after the completion of the annual work plan on the Group Matters) – more information can be found below.

The Group Matters project visited four organisations in 2016. One of these visits was to the Slovenian Falcons, a new organisation that needed some training on group work and young leader training. The organisation had a great deal of energy and enthusiasm but was in need of the intensive training that the project could offer. Now they know where to begin in setting up new groups and we look forward to meeting some new groups of children and young people at future IFM-SEI activities.

Another support visit was to visit the former Falconi Malta, whose ex-members want to work with a socialist students’ organisation in Malta to reignite the organisation over 25 year after it closed down. We met with various stakeholders to support them in the creation of local group work and recruitment programmes, which will hopefully lead to the creation of a new IFM-SEI member organisation in Malta.

Have you recently set up a completely new group or organisation that you would like to grow? Or would like to start a new group but don’t quite know how to begin or lack the relevant experience? Alternatively, has your existing group been struggling lately? Suffering membership loss? Is it challenging to find or select group leaders? Or perhaps, find it difficult to plan a structured programme of activities? It could be really useful and worthwhile for your group to have an outside view from other volunteers who have been in your situation to gain new perspectives and help you to overcome these challenges.

If so, our Group Matters experts are on hand to provide you with invaluable advice, guidance and training for the whole team of volunteers. If you would be interested in this, you can always get in touch with us at contact@ifm-sei.org.
